The University of Minnesota Police Department (UMPD) Wednesday reported it is investigating a case of possible sexual misconduct case on the Minneapolis campus.

An instance of “forcible fondling” was reported  Oct. 6 after an incident outside of Murphy Hall on the U’s East Bank. A victim, whose affiliation to the U is unknown at this time, reported being groped at about midnight Tuesday. The incident was reported to the UMPD through the U’s Housing and Residential Life, though the student housing agency could not yet comment on the particulars of the incident.

In an unrelated case on the St. Paul campus, U police have closed a matter that centered around the welfare of a male. UMPD was called to Bailey Hall during the evening of Oct. 2 to check on the individual, but according to the incident report, the male, whose U affiliation is unknown, was determined to be in a non-threatening state. The UMPD officially closed the case after collecting facts and determining through an information report that no further action was necessary.
