You’ve been warned: Zombies will fill Minneapolis streets

By MCKENZIE GERNES/Murphy News Service

Minneapolis will be overcome by zombies Saturday night in the “World’s Greatest Undead Party”

The event incorporates multiple downtown venues and there will be performances at 11 different locations throughout the night. The Zombie Pub Crawl includes the following bars:
• First Avenue
• 7th St Entry
• Skyway Loft, Studio B
• Kieran’s
• Masons’
• Gluek’s
• Pourhouse
• Mill City Nights
• 508
• Cowboy Jacks
• Shout House
• Brother’s
• The Lounge
• Pizza Luce
• Aqua
• Spdes
• Fine Line
• Dream Ultra Lounge
• Sneaky Pete’s

The event is unique because it literally quarantines part of downtown. People will only be able to access the area with wristbands or valid IDs that they live in the area.

Big musical headliners will include Seven Lions, SUM 41, Soulja Boy, Lil Dicky and Mickey Avalon. Aside from the music there will also be the World Brain Eating Championship, a benefit for Second Harvest Heartland. For every brain taco eaten, $10 is donated to feed the hungry in Minnesota. In the past, competitors have managed to eat 54 tacos. Joey Chestnut in 2013 still holds the title, with Matt Stonie eating 53.5.

Pub Crawl coordinators said they are expecting up to 30,00 people in this year.

The event was certified by the Guinness Book of World Records as the “World’s Largest Gathering of Zombies.” This year will mark the 11th year of the crawl in Minneapolis. The first crawl was held in 2005, 150 gathered and went to six bars. The event was coordinated through MySpace.
